Eighteen awards were presented to the top three in six categories: Mini Explorer, Explorer Junior, Explorer Senior, Minisumo, Soccer and the three-way Robo-Olympics Meet.

From Turin to Salerno, more than 50 teams from the pilot schools in Italy participated in the competition. The Roman schools were the true protagonists of the event with eight different schools of all levels participating in the various categories and all placing very well.

This was an important success for the didactic innovation model implemented in Italian schools thanks to the European Robodidactics project coordinated by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. The Foundation has led the development of a methodology and the creation of a textbook, including exercises and a teacher’s guidebook. Moreover, for the first time, the competitions, the exhibition area and the seminar all underlined the emergence of the strategic role of the “robotic” approach to didactics as a way to innovate the entire education system, from primary school to university.

As Fondazione Mondo Digitale Scientific Director Alfonso Molina pointed out “educational robotics provides the opportunity to teach an learn not only scientific and technological disciplines, but also humanities such as literature and philosophy. Furthermore, robotics allows us to develop important skills such as teamwork, problem solving and a fair sense of competition.”
