The 1st International City of Rome Robotics Trophy was held in 2007 and for the first time the Rome Campidoglio’s “Sala della Protomoteca” was invaded by robots. Delegations of students and teachers from around the world participated in three events: competitions, showcase area with projects developed by schools and workshops on Robodidactics. Since then, RomeCup – Excellence in Robotics in Rome has become an annual multi-event with new features in every edition.
Here are some of the facts and figures of the 11th edition that will be held in Rome on March 15-17, 2017. And it’s the first time that the event is hosted by the Engineering Macro-Area at the University of Tor Vergata.
142 Competing Teams – 485 students from 16 Italian Regions, as well as 2 European countries (Germany and Holland)
260 young men and women – will man the stands in the showcase area with the prototypes they have developed
100 Professors – acting as coaches
35 Labs – for students aged 6-19 in a wide range of disciplines and areas
48 Stands – with robotic prototypes in the showcase area
300 km – separate two schools that participated in a cooperative robotic project
12 Referees and Assistants
9 Competition Categories - including 4 valid for RoboCup Selections
80 Prototypes – designed and built by students
73 Students – is the largest delegation from the Rome Archimede-Pacinotti School
135 Hostesses and Stewards – to welcome visitors: 120 students are from the Croce-Aleramo School (school-work programme) and 15 from the University of Tor Vergata Macro-Engineering Area
8 Innovative Start-ups and Spin-offs – that have transformed their ideas into enterprise
26 Dancers – from the Rome IC Via Nitti will perform choreographies on stage
