The 14th edition of RomeCup has been developed as a television palimpsest to allow you to follow events individually at any time or in classroom mode, interacting with classmates, teachers and experts. The RomeCup preview will be held on April 27-29, with international speakers, labs, contests, hackathons and demos. The competitions will take place on May 12-15, also on RomeCup.org, with selections for the World Robotics Championships that will be held on June 22-28 in “worldwide” version.

 

Speakers at the opening conference, which will be held today, April 27, at 4 pm, include Fabiana Dadone, Italian Minister for Youth Policy, Virginia Raggi, Mayor of Rome, Giuseppe Averta, Italian winner of the “Georges Giralt PhD Award” for the best doctoral thesis on roboticxs in Europe, Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, Daniele Nardi, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Sapienza University of Rome, and special guest Manuela Veloso, Director of JP Morgan AI Research.

 

 

Will artificial intelligence systems be able to explain the decisions they make and accept responsibility for them? Will machines be transparent about their actions? In the opening address,  Manuele Veloso will explain how autonomous robots function with examples and cases from his long career in AI and robotics. 

 

From a lectio magistralis to university creative contests to explore the most inclusive frontiers of technology, from AI applications for health and the environment to rescue and dancing robots built and programmed by students of all ages. On April 27-29 and May 12-15, the major event dedicated to educational robotics promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, RomeCup, will be held phyrtually.
