From grade school and Lego kits to industrial robots created by technical schools: the "My Robot Friends" Seminar held yesterday at the Forum PA, was opened by Enzo Marvaso, a teacher at the Ipsia Galilei School in Turin.
The professor gave a detailed review of Robotics to underline how attitudes have changed in terms of robots and education. “Robotics is no longer an elite area, but a valid support for training and an excellent channel to attract students and keep them in school,” Prof. Marvaso explained.
Robotics is the technology of the future and its applications are constantly increasing. In the course of the next five years, service robotics will increase by 32% in Asia and 13% in Europe, surpassing the expansion rates of all other forms of technology.
In his presentation, Alfonso Molina, Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, revealed how the challenge of Robotics is not only technological, but concerns a far vaster process of social innovation that will affect all of society.
Maria Paola Minetti from the Piedmont Region School Department was also present. A Memorandum of Understanding will be soon signed between the Turin Chamber of Comnerce, the Piedmont Region, the Province of Turin Regional School Department, AMMA (Aziende Meccaniche Meccatroniche Associate) and the Italian School of Robotics and Automation for the diffusion of Robotics in schools.
