Last Friday, October 4, the  Golden Roots installation by Mariagrazia Pontorno was inaugurated in Rivodutri in the Province of Rieti [see news: Art in Rivodutri]. Here is the day through the eyes of the protagonists and a small photo gallery that documents the creation of the art installation and two public events (May 31 and October 4).

Artist Mariagrazia Pontorno and Rivodutri Mayor Michele Paniconi sit on one of the sculptures that compose the “Golden Roots,” installed around the Beech Tree of Saint Francis.

Fabio Refrigeri, Regione Lazio Councillor, explains the added value of the location of Mariagrazia Pontorno’s artwork in Rivodutri. The sacred is bound to contemporary art to promote the town in the Province of Rieti thanks to the "Golden Roots" and the Art on Walks Call.

Children in Rivodutri were involved in a unique experience. First, they worked with the artist at school [see news: The Artist at School]. Then, they participated in the inauguration with their work on roots, which they analysed both from a scientific point of view and as “origins.” Each student jotted down a thought on paper that was cut up into strips to for a “rosary of thoughts” with beads and hung on the beech tree.
