A programme helping young people find work in Palermo and Reggio Calabria

The Prodigy project – an acronym for PROmoting Digital and Green Skills for Youth – continues across the region with a structured career coaching programme aimed at young people in Palermo and Reggio Calabria, designed to provide practical support in their active job search. The programme combines personalised consultations and practical group activities, with the aim of strengthening skills, awareness and career guidance abilities in an increasingly dynamic job market.

A programme combining individual coaching and practical workshops

The programme begins with individual online sessions, in which participants work alongside coaches to define professional goals and job-search strategies. This phase is followed by a series of face-to-face workshops, dedicated to building and optimising CVs and professional profiles. Particular attention is paid to the informed use of new technologies: participants experiment with artificial intelligence tools to enhance the effectiveness of their applications, integrating them with traditional presentation techniques. The programme is rounded off by interview preparation, through simulations and analysis of recruitment dynamics, to help participants face interviews with companies with greater confidence.

“We work to provide young people with up-to-date technical tools, such as the use of AI in profile writing, to ensure they can navigate the constantly evolving job market independently,” explains Francesca Lisi, the project’s career coach.

Networking and businesses: building real opportunities

The programme has already organised Info Days and networking events, creating opportunities for direct interaction between young people and partner companies. In Reggio Calabria, in particular, the project has focused on mapping local businesses, building stable relationships with companies to facilitate the matching of job supply and demand. “The constant development of relationships with local businesses is the cornerstone of our work: we work daily to transform the local network into an ecosystem of real opportunities for young people,” emphasisesGiulia Melissari, regional focal point.

Towards employment

Activities will continue over the coming weeks with new networking events and interview sessions with companies, with the aim of facilitating employment placements in the short term. “Having established direct relationships with local companies is the factor that makes the difference, because it allows us to tailor the young people’s preparation to the real needs of businesses, transforming coaching into concrete employment outcomes,” highlights Annaleda Mazzucato, project manager. A model that combines guidance, skills and relationships, confirming the value of career coaching as a strategic lever to support young people in building their professional future.
