EAST is a project run by Save the Children and Adiconsum that intends to promote a safe and responsible use of new media by youth and contrast the sexual abuse of adolescents via the Internet.
The Advisory Committee, which has been created to address issues such as safety and the protection of minors on-line, includes the Fondazione Mondo Digitale that has a vast experience in digital inclusion and the positive use of new media by young people.
The Committee includes representatives of the state, the armed forces, the Internet and mobile phone industry, media, teacher and parent associations and other civil society operators. Work groups will be created within the committee to share experiences, issues and possible strategies to address these problems.
EAST is the product of two projects:
- Stop-It, a project by Save the Children Italia to fight sexual exploitation of minors on and through the Internet.
- Easy (Enhancing Awareness on Internet Safety for Young People) is a project by Save the Children Italia and Adiconsum to raise awareness for a safe and responsible use of new technologies, addressing children, adults, teachers and parents.
