A Marathon of Ideas

The first edition of the Phyrtual Innovation Week has just ended at the Rome  Città Educativa. Knowledge Volunteer Awards were presented to the winning teams.

Thirteen teams participated in the original competition for ideas for school addressing “learning whilst having fun.” Just as in a hackathon, the teams met and formed for the challenge, putting together individual experience and skills. Each team had three to eight members. The jury was composed by Mario Morello, Lara Forgione e Paola De Marco. The winners will be able to attend the labs at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym to acquire further useful skills to complete their project.

Awards

Third Place: Digilab chimica

A team composed of students from IC Camastra and an operator from the Cemea del Mezzogiorno Association, “Digilab chimica” is a touch screen table with buttons indicating videos, text books, period elements and group excercises.

Second Place: Make Your Piano

This is a tool for studying pian with makey makey. The team included students from IC Via Messina, IC Nitti and a teacher from CPIA 3.

First Place: Girogicando

This is a game app with maps of the Italian artistic heritage and multilingual information. Players proceed to various levels by tests and objectives. It allows users to learn about monuments and interesting cultural and historic locations. And even allows you to practice your languages, history and geography, as well as learning about local cuisine.

Team members are Giulia Ricci, Martina Ferretti, Alexandra Stan, Andrea De Carolis (IC Masina, Roma), Sara Colapietro, Sara Fabrizi (IC Frosinone 4), Adriana Marciante (LC Aristofane), and Lia Stega (liceo Ceccano Frosinone).

Damiano Pizzuti, a former student who now collaborates with the Liceo Ceccano, and the only “adult” member of the winning team, we discover how to use the Girogicando App.
