Rescue Robots
Rescue Robots are programmed to operate in emergency situations, including earthquakes and terrorist attacks. They move through rubble, climb stairs and use special sensors to identify victims. This type of robot can also be used alongside trained rescue teams in very complex situations.
The competition field has various levels, connected by inclined corridors and ramps (maximum inclination 25 degrees, walls at least 10 cm high). The dimension of rooms and access doors and the materials used (linoleum, carpeting, etc.) are defined by the competition rules. The labyrinthine course that must be followed is represented by a black line. Along the way, the robots encounter obstacles, rubble and bumps that they have to overcome to reach the emergency “red area.”
Competitions begin with the robot placed at the entrance to the first “room”. The robot has 8 minutes to explore three rooms and bring the victim to the safe area (evacuation point) following the pre-determined plan.
