Learning Italian in Lavinio

Anzio is one of the top 10 municipalities in the Province of Rome with the most foreign residents. It’s sixth with over 4000 resident foreigners: Romanians (16.1%), Bulgarians (11.8%) and Indians (10.8%).

Now, the immigrants residing in the territories of Lavinio and Anzio will be amongst the first beneficiaries of an integrated training course on the active and innovative use of new technology. The objective of the LC2 Project (Language, Computer, Culture) is to help foreigners acquire the key competences to enjoy active citizenship in their new country. The project is co-financed by the EU’s Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals.

The project entails nine different training courses employing a didactic kit, an on-line learning environment and linguistic and cultural mediators. The courses will be held in the computer labs of the Provincial Police Force of Lavinio (Via Galileo Galilei 3).

Besides the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, other project partners include the consortium of social cooperatives Eriches 29, KStudio Associato (network KPMG), the Il Percorso cooperative and the Hughes Linguistic Centre. The project consortium, with the participation of the Municipality and Province of Anzio, participated in the call published by the Ministry of the Interior (Department for Civil Liberty and Immigration – Central Division for Immigration and Refugees) to develop projects on the territory addressing the actions delineated in the European Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals 2007-2013.

The project kicked off on September 22 with an Italian course for foreigners coordinated by the experts of the Hughes Linguistic Centre.
