Federico Zucca's testimony from the Remid@ help desk in Legioni Romane
At the Remid@ help desk in Legioni Romane (Municipality 6 of Milan), digital technology is not something abstract: it is a password to be recovered, a SPID to be activated, an online service to be understood. It is everyday life. Federico Zucca, a professional educator and media educator, works here, helping citizens to use smartphones, computers and digital services. This support is practical, of course, but also educational: because the goal is not to do things for people, but to help them become independent.
My work is based on a pedagogical approach that combines technical skills and relationship building, with the aim of promoting autonomy, awareness and active participation. Today, digital technology increasingly coincides with the exercise of citizenship rights. Not knowing how to access an online service or not having a digital identity means risking exclusion. That is why I have chosen to put my educational skills at the service of the community. I am inspired by the words of Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini: “The media and communication are important insofar as they build bridges between people”. I believe that accompanying people in the digital world means offering them tools for freedom and responsibility.
My greatest motivation is to see people's confidence grow: when someone goes from “I can't do it” to “I'll try it myself”, I know that the process is working.
In Milan, digital transformation is a real challenge that affects everyone's daily life. In my work within the REMID@ project, I am committed to making this transformation an accessible opportunity, so that no one is left behind. I accompany citizens in the use of smartphones, computers and online services, offering support in the creation and management of digital identity (SPID and CIE) and in accessing public administration platforms.
People are at the heart of my work. Every meeting is a space for dialogue and trust, where active listening allows me to understand explicit needs and deeper fragilities. My daily commitment is to help build a more aware, autonomous and truly inclusive city, where technology does not create new inequalities but generates shared opportunities.
