“We are an open software and hardware start-up with a product for the Internet of Things,” explains Alex Benfaremo (23), cofounder and PR for Apio. “We started just over a year ago, in January 2014, with the idea of connecting things and things with people by exploiting the latest innovations. The idea is to return technology to the service of mankind.”
Tech start-up Apio srl was created in July 2014 by four twenty-year olds. Besides Alex, there are:
• Lorenzo Di Berardino (24) Founder and CEO
• Alessandro Chelli (22) Computer and Automation Engineer
• Matteo Di Sabatino (25) Framework Manager, Computer and Automation Engineer
“Notwithstanding our young age, we have had a lot of experiences: looking for investors that shared our vision, the fact that only two of us receive a salary, creating a finished product, and so on …” explains Alex.
“We face difficulties every day, but overcoming them helps us define our vision. If you know where you want to go, you know what to do to get there. Since we started out, many opportunities have appeared: university, Los Angeles designers, LordFlex simulator, the Apio Energy@Home (our association), etc. It’s not easy to know where the future will take us, but we will keep working until we reach our objective.”
In the audio clip, Alessandro and Alex explain the prototypes and products they will showcase at RomeCup 2015.
