In the Kingdoms of Interland

The board game inspired by the Interland videogame has the same objective: to allow young men and women – both at home and at school - to develop the skills necessary to become responsible citizens who conscientiously use the internet in a fun manner for all generations.  The board game is produced by Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Google for children and preadolescents (6-14) as part of Project Fully Enjoy the Internet.

The game is based on four experiential journeys through the Kingdoms of Interland:

  • The River of Reality – Learn to distinguish true from false.
  • The Treasure Tower – Safeguard your personal information.
  • The Gentle Kingdom – Promote kindness.
  • The Mountain of Responsibility – Use technology with common sense.

Exploring the Kingdoms of Interland, the young players learn to the proper behaviour for on-line activities, identifying risks and opportunities, and developing a conscientious attitude that will make the web a better place for everyone.

The Fondazione Mondo Digitale will select 50 schools that are especially focused on civic education who wish to participate in the project and receive free game sets to distribute to teachers and families.

The selected schools will participate in free training sessions for teachers, students and families addressing a range of issues: wellbeing and digital awareness, fake news, frauds, personal data, cyberbullying, hate speech, listening and dialogue between young and adults.

What schools will receive:

  • The first board game on digital citizenship for exciting challenges in class or at home
  • Free teacher training on digital citizenship issues
  • Free training for primary and first-degree secondary school students on civic digital education issues (kind communication, fact-checking, storytelling)
  • Free training for families, parents and grandparents on issues related to on-line security
  • Didactic material for Civic Education

Schools that wish to receive further information should complete the following on-line form by November 25.

The Fondazione Mondo Digitale is accredited by MIUR for training school personnel. At the end of the course, participants will receive a participation certificate. The issues addressed by “Fully Enjoy the Internet” also provide concrete support for teaching Civic Education.
