The two-year Nonni SUD Internet Project, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with Auser, Anteas and the contribution of Fondazione Con Il Sud has just ended and grandparents in Catania are enthusiastic about their experience. Starting next year, Itis Ferraris in San Giovanni La Punta (Catania) will join the FMD’s now famous Grandparents on the Internet digital literacy programme.
 
Cecilia Stajano,Schools Innovation Manager for theFondazione Mondo Digitale, met with the protagonists.
 
Tutor Manuel though the project was very useful to help over-sixties “embrace the digital world that had excluded them and make them feel truly integrated”.

Grandpa Rosario uses computers to look at photos of Losanna in Switzerland and remember about when he lived there. “I used to skeptic when I heard talk about Internet and the web, but I love it now. I just can’t stop.”

Ferdinando, a teaching coordinator,explains how they organized the courses. “We gave the grandparents homework so that they could practice what they learned in class. They really were very motivated.”
