Tullio De Mauro will address the “Italian language as a key element of national identity” as part of the celebrations for the 150th Anniversary of Italian unity.
The event, promoted by the Italian Presidency in collaboration with the Società Dante Alighieri, the Accademia dei Lincei, the Accademia della Crusca and the Italian Encyclopedia Institute, will be opened by Gianni Letta, Undersecretary to the Prime Minister. This will be followed by the screening of a documentary produced by Giovanni Minoli with materials from the archives of the RAI state television. Giuliano Amato, President of the Guarantee Committee for the 150th Anniversary, who will address “The Italian Language and National Unity”, will start the conference.
Other participants include Vittorio Sermonti, Carlo Ossola, Nicoletta Maraschio, while Fabrizio Gifuni, Umberto Orsini, Ottavia Piccolo, Toni Servillo and Pamela Villoresi will read literary excerpts.
