The “Transnational Collaboration on Bullying, Migration and Integration at School Level” Project is coordinated by Professor James O'Higgins Norman, UNESCO Chair Against Bullying in Schools and Cyberspace at Dublin City University, Director of the National Centre for Anti-bullying Research and Resources, aims to investigate the relations between bullying, migration and school- and classroom-level integration.

network of over 30 universities and research centres from 32 countries, including the Fondazione Mondo Digitale represented by Project Manager Annaleda Mazzucato, are collaborating on Project TRIBES to guarantee integration, reduce bullying and improve the safety of refugee and migrants students and all secondary school students in the EU, thereby helping to stabilise society and individuals in society.

The conference debate addresses a number of key issues:

  • What type of educational strategies have proved efficient to bring children and young migrants to Europe up to par?
  • How does ethnic diversity affect the development of personal and intergroup relations?
  • How does ethnic discrimination and the development of ethnic identities influence wellbeing during adolescence?
  • How can teacher training adapt to the challenges of multicultural and multilingual school environments?
  • How do stereotypes amongst teachers and students influence scholastic success and what can be done to prevent their devastating effects?
  • What are the challenges for social learning and interaction in different cultural contexts? How can we transform them into resources?
  • What are the risk factors for adolescent aggression in school? How can schools contribute to developing a prevention strategy?
  • How can we help school and communities to promote a positive, safe and inclusive culture and climate?
  • What are the consequences of cyberbullying on young, marginalized individuals?
