How Do You Recycle a PC?

How can a ten year old computer be regenerated? What characteristics must a processor have to be considered still useable? As part of the Education Week for Sustainable Development promoted by Unesco, three of the nine schools in Rome participating in the Campaign to recycle old office PCs will organised didactic laboratories on the techniques employed to regenerate old and no longer used PCs.

Tomorrow, November 12th, from 2:00 – 5:30 pm, the following schools will be host their laboratories:

The same laboratories will be held again on Friday November 14.

For the teachers coordinating the recycling activities in the schools, one of the most important effects of this didactic campaign is the manual, laboratory activity performed by the students.

The following audio clip provides the testimony of Prof. Emilio Caprasecca, project coordinator at the l’Itis Armellini school, and some of his students. The clip was recorded during the final event of the Thematic Weeks Initiative held at the Rome Educational City.

From mathematics and logic to decision-making: the formative value of the project has been analysed in detail in the “Innovation in the Schools of Rome” volume edited by Alfonso Molina and Ilaria Falcetta. The project is also part of the FMD’s on-line learning environment in the Science and Technology section.
