Sixty-nine schools have registered for the first edition of the EDUCATIONAL ROBOTICS OLYMPICS, promoted by the General Direction for School Curricula and Educational Assessment and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. The teams come from 17 Italian regions. The first edition of the Robotics Olympics will take place in parallel with the tenth edition of RomeCup – Excellence in Robotics in Rome (March 16-18).
The competition entitled “Champions’ Factory” addresses second-degree secondary school students to promote and encourage the use of the didactic potential of robotics. Participants will build a robotic champion, a working prototype capable of competing in international robotics competitions. The prototypes selected by the scientific committee will be showcased at the three-day RomeCup event (Rome, March 16-18), while the awards ceremony will be held in Parma on May 24 as part of the Maifest, the inaugural evening of the SPS IPC Drives Italia Fair, dedicated to technology for electrical and industrial automation.
The final phase of the Robotics Olympics will host 56 projects (one project comes from an Italian school abroad) in four categories: Exploration, Rescue, Dance and Football.
