Grandparents on the Internet: How to Apply

Ninety Italian schools have adhered to the 10th edition of Grandparent on the Internet for the upcoming 2011-12 School Year. The schools will host various types of the local intergenerational learning project (Telemouse, Nonni SUD Internet, PINN, A Click for Togetherness etc.).

After nine editions, the digital literacy course for the elderly has trained 12,000 senior citizens thanks to the help of 10,000 student tutors. The activities have been coordinated by 800 expert technology teachers in 475 schools.

The Grandparents on the Internet Project started in Rome in 2003. Subsequenly, it was exported to nine Italian regions (Abruzzi, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Lombardy, Marche, Piedmont, Sardinia and Umbria) and four European countries (Belgium, Ireland, Romania and Spain).
Registration is now open for the new 2011-12 school year.
