Global Junior Challenge 2009: Sign Up Now!

 

Sign up now for the fifth edition of the Global Junior Challenge international competition, a vast challenge to reduce inequality in the world through technology, creativity and social innovation.

The GJC takes place every two years. The international competition, organised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to fight every form of digital divide, rewards the innovative use of technology in education, solidarity and intercultural cooperation.

 

The competition is open to schools and universities, public and private institutions, cooperatives and cultural associations, enterprises and private citizens.

 

The deadline to present projects is July 30, 2009.

 

All projects that were still in operation as of December 31, 2008 and addressed to youth up to 29 years of age and which use new ICT technology for education and training. Projects are divided into four categories, based on the target ages. (Projects for users up to 10 years old, up to 15 years old, up to 18 years old and up to 29 years old.) Moreover, there are two special categories reserved for projects promoting the job placement of youth and creativity and social innovation, a novelty introduced for this edition of the GJC.

An international jury will select the finalist projects and proclaim the winners. The final event of the GJC will be held in Rome (7-8 October 2009) and will include an exhibition of the finalist projects together with workshops and meetings. The Awards Ceremony will take place on October 9, 2009.
