GJC Final Event

The final event of the International Global Junior Challenge will be held on December  15-17. The Awards Ceremony will be held on the final day in the Campidoglio’s Sala Giulio Cesare.

 

Promoted by the City of Rome and organised every two years by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, since 2017, the GJC is dedicated to the memory of Tullio De Mauro (Torre Annunziata 1932 - Rome 2017), linguist, professor emeritus and scholar of international education systems.

 

The Global Junior Challenge, currently in its 10th edition, recognises the most innovative projects that employ new technology for education and youth training. The 2021 edition, promoted in collaboration with the Erickson Publishing House, is dedicated to the innovative and inclusive use of new technology for high-quality education during the Covid-19 emergency.

 

Based on the ongoing evolution of the health emergency, we are fine-tuning some aspects of the programme, but here are the main appointments:

10 – 12 | SCHOOLS AS A COMPLEX SYSTEM

Understanding schools and the educational community based on the most recent theories on complexity. How did the system hold up against the pandemic? What tools were employed to counter the emergency? What are the future scenarios? We speak about these issues with the leading sector [proximate session with live streaming].

 

2 - 6 | THE CHALLENGE OF SYSTEMIC INNNOVATION IN SCHOOL 

Networking, training and group exercise sessions for teachers and school administrators.

11 - 1 | THE LOCAL CHALLENBGE FOR INCLUSIVE INNOVATION

Networking, training and group exercise sessions for local coaches and educators in the Fondazione Mondo Digitale network. 

 

6.30 – 7.30 | THE DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP CHALLENGE FOR PARENTS

A hybrid event dedicated to parents in collaboration with Google as part of Projects CS First and Fully Enjoy the Internet. The importance of digital skills in the development of children.

Inauguration and welcome with the Rome City Band on the Piazza del Campidoglio 

 

The following awards will be presented:

  • Medals to the winning projects of each GJC 2021 category
  • The “Tullio De Mauro Innovating Teacher 2021” Medal 
  • The “Tullio De Mauro Innovating Administrator 2021” Medal
  • Erickson awards for the innovating teacher and administrator 2021
