Generations On-line

Thanks to our collaboration with Google on Project Computer Science First, we have developed an exploratory research project, listening to parents (2000 questionnaires, 10 focus groups with 200 participants). The results indicated new fears about children: how can a passion for technology bordering on habit (games, social networks, etc.) be transformed into a safe, serene and fulfilling profession? What do people working in IT really do?

According to the World Economic Forum, 65% of today’s young men and women will work in roles that still do not exist. Parents have an increasingly significant role in helping their children decide on their studies and career. Unfortunately, however, they often have a very limited understanding of the opportunities provided by technology. Parents who are not capable of understanding the digital hybridisation of daily life often feel lost and distressed.

The "Generations On-line: Experts address the issues and doubts of parents" event, schedule for Thursday, December 16 (6:00-7:30), will address issues related to the growing role of technology in the lives of our children and provide answers to parents who wish to accompany their children in deciding their educational and professional futures.

The event will be held at the Innovation Gym on Via del Quadraro 102 in Rome. Participating parents will receive a free issue of Interland: Digital Adventures, a book addressing digital citizenship developed by Project "Fully Enjoy the Internet," promoted by GoogleFondazione Mondo DigitaleItalian PoliceAltroconsumo and Anteas.

In order to reach the largest audience possible, the event will also be streamed live on the Fondazione Mondo Digitale Facebook Page.

All participating parents, whether on-line or in presence, will have the opportunity to have their children (ages 10-15) participate in free computer science training courses organised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with sector experts.
