The fourth edition of the School of Physics with Arduino and Smartphone, promoted with Sapienza University of Rome, featured the participation of teachers from Lazio, Umbria, Campania and Lombardy. Participating teachers learned how to use Arduino and smartphones to perform measurements and experiments in their schools [see news: Advanced Training].

An initial evaluation of the edition has been made by Giovanni Organtini, School Director and Professor at the Sapienza University of Rome Department of Physics.

"Teachers arrived thinking they would never be able to develop an experiment from scratch and after two days they were fully capable of using this technology to conduct quantitatively relevant physical experiments,” explains Prof. Organtini. "It is absolutely fundamental to export this result to schools as it will allow students to truly understand what a physics experiment is.”

How can we introduce Physics to classes in an innovative manner? Matteo Viscogliosi, Fab Lab Coordinator at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, explains the importance of transversal skills.
