Everyone on the Internet!

Everyone on the Internet!

The initiative is dedicated to adults, especially over-sixties. Starting on Monday and for an entire week, the elderly centres and schools that have participated in Project Grandparents on the Internet, or one of its spin-offs, will welcome citizens to learn how to write with a PC, surf the web, use e-mail e on-line public administration services.

Grandparents on the Internet is a digital literacy project developed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale that uses student tutors to teach over-sixties to use new technology. Today, the intergenerational learning methodology, based on an alliance between schools and elderly centres, has become a national model and is used in 18 Italian regions and 8 European countries. During the course of 11 editions, over 19000 senior web users have been certified thanks to the help of 15,500 student tutors and 1400 coordinating teachers.

Over 100 Italian schools have used the intergenerational model to fight social exclusion and promote the development of 21st century skills.
