Giulio, 67, attended the Faculty of Law at Sapienza University of Rome for a few years, but never completed the programme as his passion – his great passion as he describes it – has always been journalism. He has been publishing articles since he was 13 and, as soon as he was the right age, he registered as an official publicist.

Giulio also worked in some of the first private TV stations, until they were incorporated in larger networks. Then, at 20, he was forced to work in his family’s trade as a jeweller. “At first, I truly suffered. Journalism allowed me to travel, but in the shop I felt trapped. So, I had to learn to adapt.” Giulio never gave up on his great passion, however. He has continued to publish articles, founded an on-line magazine and has written poetry and novels. When the shop closed, he moved from Tarquinia to Rome and signed up at the Cinecittà employment centre.

Thanks to the services of the City of Rome, Giulio learned about Project Ambizione Italia for Youth. What did he find most interesting? Everything! “I had a scientific high school diploma, a few years of university and a lot of apprenticeship in newspapers. I have seen the entire evolution of media: from pencils to typewriters to computers. The most important thing that I have learned is that one should never stop. We should all enjoy new experiences and continue to evolve. I learned to use a computer on my own, but this course has been very useful as it covers everything from use of the Internet to social networks.

“Thanks to Ambizione Italia for Youth,” adds Giulio, “I managed to keep abreast of the rapid technological evolution that has occurred in the past few years. This course has become a true reference point for me.”
