These are just a few of the stories of the over one hundred individuals participating in the “Intergenerational Learning: school as a learning environment for key integration skills” Project, co-financed by the European Union (European Fund for the Integration of third country nationals). The project aims to facilitate the integration of foreign minors in Italian schools, contrast discrimination and promote intercultural dialogue.

The project, which is coordinated by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale with the Eriches 29 Consortium of Social Cooperatives and the collaboration of the Il Percorso Cooperative, is being held in Rome’s XV District (in the Magliana, Corviale and Trullo areas) where a high percentage of immigrants reside. The consortium participated in the Interior Ministry’s (Department for Civil Liberties and Immigration – Central Direction for Immigration and Asylum) call for the development of territorial projects addressing the actions set in the (European Fund for the Integration of third country nationals 2007-2013.

The project methodology involves students from partner schools who act as tutors to foreign students and make learning a highly collaborative and personalized experience.
