An Eco-Technical Summer Camp

The second summer camp week, which was held last week at the Rome Phyrtual Innovation Gym, involved 4 young girls and 7 young boys, aged 8 to 11, in a Green Design Week (June 17-21).

Under the guidance of Coach Federica Pellegrini, the children produced a set of pots for eco-sustainable cultivation. The set was produced entirely in wood with a laser cutter and decorated with unicorns, Darth Vader, horses, musical groups, etc.

Moreover, with the help of Valentina Gelsomini, the children also programmed a CodeBug, a miniature chipset that can be inserted into the pots to determine when the plants need watering or whether they have too much water.

Eleonora Curatola describes the last camp day when each student brought three cactuses to complete their projects.

The English language course was also dedicated to nature and ecosystems to create the participants’ preferred natural environments with shoeboxes, leaves, stones, ribbons and drawings.

On the last day, the children presented their works to their parents along with a video trailer (produced with Federica and Valentina) on their week – a memento that will help them remember their experience as a great adventure movie.

The third and final summer camp week begins today. It’s the Art&Tech Week. Twenty children are expected to unleash their creativity and produce small art works with the help of Irene Caretti and Valentina Gelsomini.
