Digital Social Agents

ACTing – Social Agents Promoting Active Ageing through Technology partners meet today in Rome. The two-year project is financed by the European Commission to promote and encourage the social and digital inclusion of adults. In Italy, the project is managed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

The project, which involves five partners from four countries (Italy, Romania, Spain and Switzerland), is part of the Leonardo da Vinci Programme that aims to improve the abilities and skills of social agents operating in the field of active ageing and who freely provide their ICT skills to individuals and communities. The objective is to transfer to all the social agents working in this area the “majores con iniziativa” methodology that was successfully tested by Fundetec in Spain.

This is an innovative methodology that can be adapted to a wide range of contexts and individual needs. Thanks to the ACTing course, the social agents will help over-sixties acquire digital skills through innovative social inclusion actions to provide concrete answers to the needs of the elders.

Today’s meeting at the Rome Città Educativa will address the presentation of project activities, expected results and the e-learning platform integrated in the www.acting4elderly.eu website. Social agents will be able to attend the training course on-line and adapt the methodology to their local context, promoting concrete experiences at the local level.

In June 2015, all the participating countries will select the best innovative practices at the national level. These eight finalists, two from each country, will participate for the final award that will be announced at the International Competition in Geneva, Switzerland in September 2015.
