Digital Bridge - Travelling to Saharawi

Together for the Saharawi
Rome, March 9-10

Circolo didattico Papa Wojtyla

Plesso scuola elementare XXI Aprile

Via Luca Passi, 57

Yesterday, the first to appear on stage were the parents that have helped to make the Digital Bridge Project possible. Then the children brought music and colours … An entire area of the school was reserved for the cakes baked by the students’ mothers and the objects created by the children: painted plates and vases in terracotta, cheap jewellery and drawings inspired by the music of the Saharawi… Everything was on sale for modest sums to collect funds for the children in the refugee camps. A collection of thoughts and poems, edited by the students in class IV B, is entitled “Freedom does not exist when Life is a Refugee”.

Initially, two class were involved in the project (IV B and IV C). The teachers, Erminia Di Fabio e Roberta Profili, will be part of the delegation leaving for Saharawi on March 14th.

"We have received an incredible amount of help from the parents," says Roberta, "even our colleagues have been fantastic. In one week, we have managed to organise all of this …”

"At first, we thought we would organise a small concert," adds school administrator Giovanna Merlina, who will be part of the delegation, "then a meeting with the teachers gave rise to many ideas. There wasn’t much time, but we didn’t give up. The result is this beautiful day and even if only two classes are involved, the parents of all the school children have participated.”
