The creation of a technological bridge between the Saharawi people and Cameroon has involved many different professional figures: from administrators to engineers, from cooperative workers to ICT experts, belonging to different structures and organisms. All these subjects will be present at the press conference that will be held on Wednesday October 8 at the Lazio Region Headquarters.
- Mario Michelangeli, Councillor for Consumer Rights and Administrative Simplification at the Lazio Region;
- Bruno Prestagiovanni, VP of the Lazio Regional Council;
- Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale;
- Martin Nkafu, Manager of the Cameroon Project;
- Cesare Borin, AMU Engineer responsible for technology and logistics;
- Dario De Luca, Headmaster of the Liceo Classico Russell;
- Emanuele Cerroni, President of the Bambini+Diritti Association;
- Omar Mih, Representative of the Fronte Polisario in Italy;
- Franca Giovanna Merlina, School manager, 299° Circolo didattico "Papa Wojtyla”.
This is an important meeting that marks the passage from the initial technological and training phase of the project to a second phase based on education and information and which will involve schools in Lazio, Saharawi and Cameroon. In other words, the bridge is now ready and the connection can be opened up, communication can begin, school can start.
The objectives of Project Digital Bridge include the extension literacy, the innovative use of ICT to promote rights, create new job opportunities and social inclusion and reduce emigration towards urban centres and other countries.
To date, a satellite connection system and a local wi-fi network have been installed to diffuse ICT training courses and inaugurate the first digital school year.
