In 2018, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Council for People, Schools and Communities of Roma Capitale will extend Project “Grandparents on the Internet” throughout the city, involving 60 schools and 149 elderly centres (CSAs) in Rome.
Schools will open their gates from January to May thanks to Project “Nonni su Internet – A Roma diventa Facile” (Grandparents on the Internet in Rome becomes easy). Students will hold 24-hour courses (12 two-hour lessons) on PCs, Web and technology for elders with the help of experts. The educational model is based on a collaborative, cooperative and custom-tailored didactic methodology that proves successful in educational contexts that aim to transmit values, drive dialogue and create a community.
In parallel with the digital literacy courses held in schools in Rome, elder centres will experiment internal intergenerational courses to increase cohesion and interaction with the local community. The 15 most active centres will become Punti Roma Facile, “easy points in Rome,” public areas with assistance for on-line services.
