Coding High School

Amongst the five exemplary stories presented in the “Innovazione nella scuola romana: dotazione digitale e proposte formative della Città Educativa di Roma” Project (Innovation in Roman Schools: digital devices and educational proposals at the Città Educativa), there also is the all-female coding experience organized at the Liceo Kennedy by the Headmaster and Professors of Natural Sciences and English.

Last year, forty young women participated in a coding lab at the Rome Città Educativa organized by Project Coding Girls Roma-USA, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in partnership with the American Embassy.

The objective was to provide these students with an opportunity to experience new curricular activities that might stimulate their curiosity and interest in university studies. Moreover, the professors wished to support their students in acquiring a greater awareness of their inclinations and potential, transmitting the idea that every one of us must create their own educational career with cultural activities that cannot always be experienced in school.

The experience, coordinated by Prof Carla Maria Ciabatti, is described on pgs. 39-45.

An example of collaboration with other schools: Vittoria from the Liceo Kennedy is on the team that produced Escape.
