It was a fantastic experience right from the outset. Our small vegetable patch is fantastic: seeds, plants, flowers and eggplants, broccoli and peppers. I don’t feel good at home, but as soon as I’m in my garden, I plough away! We have united; we discuss our hobby and have parties. My grandchildren love to eat my vegetables, whereas before they wouldn’t touch anything green. It’s love at first sight!

We decided to cultivate vegetable patches with the Eboli Legambiente Chapter. The best part was when the students showed up. They were full of questions and curiosity. A kid even asked me, once: “Is there a fennel tree?” And, now, we know that even the kids will teach us about computers. I already know how to turn one on and off and can’t wait to start using it.

When I started cultivating vegetable, I learned a good deal. For example, you have to start growing squash during the summer, because the ground is too cold in the winter and the seed won’t manage sprouting.

I’ve grown melons, rucola and basil. Tasting and eating one’s own products is a fantastic experience. Now, I get to teach the grandparents how to use a computer!

We have studied agriculture and would like to explain its importance. In our work, climate, rain and temperature are crucial. The environment is life and in our own little way we want to help out: for example, it’s important to keep water sources clean and use only organic fertilizers.
