School year 2016-17 begins. The first students to return the school are those living in Bolzano, where the school bell begins today, Monday, September 5.
Next Monday, schools will open up again in Abruzzo, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Molise, Piedmont, Umbria, Valle D'Aosta and Veneto.
In the areas hit by the August 24 earthquake a MIUR task force is working "to guarantee a school to those who have lost it " and regularly begin the school year.
Students in Campania, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Marche, Puglia and Tuscany will enjoy three more days of vacation and return to school on September 15 (see Regional School Calendars).
The school year will end between June 7 and 10, 2017.
