A 3D-printed Robot

Educational Robotics has been part of the extra-curricular activites available at the Milan Istituto tecnico industriale James Clerk Maxwell for a number of years now.

Every afternoon, students from all the programmes, which range from Aeronautics to Mechanics, meets to share their experiences and train their robotic champions. In fact, these afternoon activities formed the team that will participate in the RomeCup 2016 Competition, which includes ten students coordinated by Professors Andrea Duchi, Salvatore Brandano and Filippo Spadaro.

After the Roman competition, the school will transform Educational Robotics into a permanent didactic activity.

Interviewed by Fiammetta Castagnini, Prof Filippo Spadaro, Electronics teacher, explains how the students gave rise to the project.

The school will be at RomeCup with two teams in the Rescue and Soccer categories. The students and teachers are working together to perfect a rescue robot and two soccer robots through original design solutions and 3D printing the necessary parts. This year, the competition robots, based on the Arduino chipset, will be entirely homemade.
