In 2016, staff at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale was involved in nearly 40 projects in Italy and worldwide through international partnerships. Here is a short review of the highlights through 12 photos.

 

JANUARY

Lectio magistralis on "Tecnología y Educación para el siglo XXI" by Alfonso Molina at the fifth edition of the Congreso del Futuro (Jan. 19-24) in Santiago del Chile (Jan. 21, 2016). See news: Education and Innovation.

 

 

 

FEBRUARY

The last edition of Project Meet No Neet, promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale as part of the Microsoft YouthSpark Programme, involved over 10,000 young men and women aged 16-24 and ended with the “Discovering Talents Fair” in Milan. See news: Discovering Talents Fair.

 

 

MARCH

Tenth edition for the RomeCup 2016: three days of competitions with 156 teams from 58 countries from 17 Italian Regions. See news: RomeCup Winners.

 

 

APRIL

Over five days at the BNL Media Art Festival (April13-17, 2016), more than 70 artists from around the world exhibited their works, while over 60 famed guests debated media art at lectures, roundtables, workshops and pitch sessions. See news: The Emotion of Art.

 

 

MAY

The protagonists of Project “Grandparents On-line. Everyone’s Young at the Post Office” manned 30 digital information desks for citizens. See news: Everyone On-line with Grandparents.

 

 

JUNE

World Refugee Day becomes a two-day multi-event dedicated to integration and social inclusion between Rome and Catania. See news: #Iocisono in Rome and Catania.

 

 

JULY

First English Summer Camp at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym for children aged 9-13.

 

 

AUGUST

The Officina – New Jobs Project implemented by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Google to promote digital skills and professional training and orientation ends. The project targeted 10,000 young men and women looking for employment.

 

 

SEPTEMBER

During the Week of Seismology (Sept. 26-20, 2016), the FMD organised interactive labs in schools with the “Máquina de Terremotos", conceived by Professor Jaime Campos and developed by makers at the Fab Lab. See news: Anti-Seismic School.

 

 

OCTOBER

The first edition of the Phyrtual Innovation Week (Oct. 3-8, 2016) is narrated on the Storify platform.

 

 

NOVEMBER

The Coding Girls Educational Marathon, with American Coach Emily Thomforde, ends with the Hackathon in Rome.

 

 

DECEMBER

The Phyrtual Innovation Gym extends its courses, labs and workshops to large companies, besides schools.
