A programme combining education, orientation and entrepreneurship
The Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will introduce 5G, IoT and cloud robotics into Italian schools to allow students to experiment on interconnecting objects, data and individuals and devise new services and benefits for their local communities.
Fifth-generation networks, which will allow data transmission at 10 gigabit/second, will revolutionise and innovate a variety of sectors from tourism to security and health services. How can we educate society to this epic transformation? How can we invest in education to prepare young men and women to successfully address the challenges of the future?
Project #5G4SCHOOL addresses high school students in Rome and Milan with a programme combining education, orientation and entrepreneurship.
ACTIVITIES
The programme is divided into two actions:
- School-Work Programme: a 30-hour programme based on the development of IoT and Cloud applications for robotics, dedicated to 200 high school students in Rome and Milan. This track combines experiential activities with webinars and will end with two coding marathons in Rome and Milan. The winning teams will access the second “acceleration” phase.
- Youth Accelerator with the Phyrtual Factory: 40 hours of activities for 40 students dedicated mentoring, coaching, design and rapid prototyping. All the prototypes will be showcased at RomeCup 2019 (Rome, April 2-5). This phase will end with an elevator pitch amongst the students, who will be evaluated by a jury, and the awards ceremony.
