Media and minors. From control to educational care is the booklet with which the Fondazione Mondo Digitale proposes a paradigm shift in the relationship between young people, digital media and adult role models. It is not a manual of prohibitions, but an educational, value-based and operational framework to accompany children and adolescents as they grow up in the virtual space, where the physical and digital dimensions intertwine every day. The guidelines stem from the belief that the protection of minors cannot be based solely on control or regulation, but requires educational care, shared responsibility and continuous training of the entire educational community.
The booklet helps to:
- overcome the alarmist and prohibitive approach to digital technology;
- understand the real risks associated with early use, anxiety, social media and artificial intelligence;
- strengthen critical, relational and emotional skills in minors;
- build educational alliances between schools, families, local communities and platforms;
- promote digital wellbeing as a fundamental educational right.
