Strategies

Processes
FMD activities have historically been divided into the following areas with just one general objective: improving people’s standard of living, with particular attention on the segments of population at greatest risk of exclusion:

  • ICT for accessibility
  • ICT for students with special needs
  • ICT for the elderly
  • ICT for equal opportunities
  • ICT for the integration of immigrants and refugees
  • ICT for education in the 21st century
  • ICT for global education and e-inclusion

New social emergencies, the world’s continuing economic crisis, and the challenges posed by Europe 2020 Strategy have driven us to develop 5 transversal macro-work areas:
  • active ageing and inter-generational solidarity
  • inclusion of immigrants and refugees
  • lifelong education
  • robots for education, multi-sectorial networking, smart specialization
  • social innovation and young entrepreneurs

These different activities generate a continuous flow of projects currently in various phases of development (planning, pilot actions, etc.) together with tacit and manageable knowledge.

The work areas and projects are described in greater detail in the section entitled WHAT WE DO.

A brief description of all the projects begun during the first ten years of activity together with the methods used is provided in Report on the first ten years of activity 2001-2011.
