Smartphone Experiments

Thanks to the School of Physics with Arduino and Smartphone even a teacher who knows nothing about coding can become a true maker in just three days! This is exactly what happened at the previous two editions of this three-day full-time activity for Mathematics and Physics teachers.

The third edition, which will be held on September 5-7 at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, once again has no pre-requisites. Participants need not know anything about coding or electronics to participate.

On Day one, the teachers learn to code for Arduino and select an experiment they would like for their class. On Day two, they have a 20-euro budget to purchase all necessary materials. The objective, in fact, is to make accurate measurements at a minimal cost. Then, under the supervision of coaches and makers, the teachers begin to develop their idea and on Day three they conduct and illustrate the experiment.

It’s an exciting experience that is not only useful for the acquisition of soft skills, but also to make Physics more attractive to less motivated students.

The School of Physics with Arduino and Smartphone, promoted by Sapienza University of Rome in collaboration with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, allows teachers to acquire the competences necessary for the design, development and implementation of physics experiments and measure through the use of pervasive digital technology [see call, in Italian].

The intensive training course last three days for a total of 40 hours, twenty of which are dedicated to frontal didactics [see course description, in Italian]. The course provides 3 university credits. The cost is € 250, which can be paid with the Carta del Docente.

Registration deadline: September 3, 2018.
