Superconnected Robot

Increasingly connected and intelligent robots are being developed that are useful and accessible (that everyone can use and buy) by exploiting the potential of the web and the sharing economy, crowdfunding and the principle of inclusion.

Superconnected Robot is a challenge for start-uppers, students and researchers that will be held as hackathon - “Young Italian Talent in Robotics” - promoted by the Fondazione Mondo DigitaleInvitalia and the Scuola superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa. The event will be held on April 2-4, 2019 at the Department of Engineering of the “Roma Tre” University (Via Vito Volterra 62).

The hackathon will be held as part of the 13th edition of RomeCup, the international event on robotics, innovation and frontier technology promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, which will provide an extraordinary immersive experience on the present and future of mankind, introducing the new generations to the study of scientific subjects, new competences and the new professional profiles appearing on the job market.

Professor Paolo Dario, the Director of the Bio-robotics Institute at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa, points out that the crucial challenge is to grasp the opportunities provided by the web to make robots increasingly more connected. And this is why we have named the challenge “Super Connected Robot”. Professor Dario will meet with the hackathon participants to inspire them before works begin on April 2, 2019 (11 am – Conference Hall, Dept. of Engineering, “Roma Tre” University).

Participants will be asked to present robotic solutions and services for citizens, especially the most disadvantaged ones. Each prototype idea must include a business idea to launch the product on the market.

Individuals or teams (max 3) can participate in the hackathon open to start-uppers, researchers, robotics experts and university students. Each team will also “host” a high school student robotics expert.

The winning team will receive a €5000 prize provided by Invitalia.

To participate, please register by March 18, 2019 at 12 (noon) Italian time by completing the following on-line form: romecup.org/hackathon
