At the second day of activities for the Final Working Conference of Project Make: Learn: Share: Europethe 22 young participants of the European Project (Erasmus+ Programme) tackled a double challenge: two hackathons at the UCT Tech School in Sheffield. The first on cybersecurity and cryptography and the second on the construction and programming of a VEX Robot. The students were all extremely enthusiastic and some are even considering transferring here to take robotics, computer science, coding and physics courses.

In these short interviews with Fiammetta Castagnini, Digital Ambassadors Ilaria Ceccacci e Luca Fantin and Fondazione Mondo Digitale Coach and Chaperon Vincenzo Polizzi express their opinions on the event.

Back at the Wilson Carline Residence Centre, the Italian team prepared to participate in the celebration event held in the evening at the Sheffield Town Hall, where the students experimented with "Age of Darkness," a virtual reality game set in the Middle Ages.

After dinner, all the participants met in the City Hall’s main auditorium to meet Ian Livingstone, a famous British Entrepreneur, who developed the popular "Tom Rider" videogame. This was followed by the presentation of diplomas by Dave Gibbs, STEM Computing & Technology Specialist, to all the digital ambassadors participating in the 2018 edition.

Just before leaving, after the final social media take over activities, Fiammetta Castagnini collected the opinions of five young Italian participants:

  • Nicolò Mensi: "It was very interesting sharing ideas and emotions with kids from other countries"
  • Luca Fantin, "Exciting, thanks to original activities"
  • Ilaria Ceccacci, "Beautiful. It didn’t last long enough "
  • Teodora Muscalu, "A fundamental educational and cultural opportunity"
  • Federica Iuliano, "Important days to meet others and perfect my English "

Vincenzo Polizzi, chaperone and former MLSE participant, explains that he enjoyed a “different experience from our mission to Spain (MLSE 2016) that has allowed me to understand the deeper significance of this project’s mission!"

"We are now leaving the Wilson Carline Centre," adds Fiammetta Castagnini, on mission with the digital ambassadors. "See you back at the office. It was a great experience for me, too. One never stops learning!"
