Last November, the guests of the Centro Enea were invited to participate in the presentation of the Sound & Image Project. This provided them with the opportunity to witness the activities that are held at the Istituto tecnico industriale Einstein in Rome. This technical school hosts various laboratories concerning multimedia communication that are open to students in the area.

Five young men (from Afghanistan, Somalia, Columbia and Morocco) and two Somali women chose to participate in the 3D graphics laboratory that is held every Friday afternoon.

Capitalising on the rapid progress and keen interest of the students, Professor Maurizio Pierantozzi, who created the del Sound & Image Project, is going to invite these students to face this year’s challenge: animate David Lynch’s fish metaphor:

Ideas are like fish,
If you want to catch a small one,
You can stay in shallow water,
But if you want to catch a big one,
You have to move into deeper water.

This initiative is one of the many activities that the Fondazione Mondo Digitale has designed for asylum seekers and refugees hosted by the “second level” multi-purpose structure created by the Municipality of Rome and the Ministry of the Interior. This facility provides young people with the opportunity to familiarise with the city and its cultural and social dimensions, by meeting students and teachers in schools distinguished for their didactic excellence.
