Can we dye textile with living micro-organisms? What materials can be printed in 3D? How can we improve the productive processes in the textile and fashion sectors?

Irene Caretti, a young maker at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym Fab Lab, will participate in the Fabricademy Programme held at the Amsterdam TextileLab. This is an interdisciplinary course on the development of new technology and its application to the textile sector from the fashion industry to the emerging market for wearables.

The six-month programme has two phases: three months of seminars and learning modules, followed by three months of individual research to develop a project. The programme begins on September 25.

The Fabricademy is an extraordinary opportunity for Irene to understand how digital manufacturing can be applied to the textile sector and learn about techniques, processes, machinery and tools that impact the design and prototyping of textiles and innovative items of clothing, as well as to experiment how new natural materials can be processed through sustainable procedures.
